The tenor recalled his childhood and his teens spent studying at the Conservatory in his hometown as he had always meant to become an opera singer and said to have been lucky enough since he made his debutes in the most important opera houses when he was still very young. Actually his career had a severe stop only once, when he was diagnosed with an acute lymphoblastic leukaemia: such experience, which forced him to be hospitalized for 11 months, taught him to intensely live each moment.
After that he mentioned his adventure with The Three Tenors, how all that was born and what they achieved together by bringing opera to the masses: in particular he stressed something the three of them really shared, which was love for music and talent and sincere, mutual admiration. According to him, today there are good singers which could repeat such experience and sing all what they sang, but the most difficult is to find singers who really understand each others and mean to sing together with strong determination and discipline.

As he mentioned in the second interview, he had the occasion to visit the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of the San Juan de Dios Hospital in San José, where he could see their work and offer the support of his foundation. During his visit he was accompanied by Sofía, a young patient, and her family.

Finally, he expressed his support to all people affected by earthquake in Mexico and hurricanes in US and Caribbean area and appreciation toward football player Keylor Navas who comes from Costa Rica.

Preceded by a minute of silence dedicated to people affected by the tropical storm Nate in Costa Rica, the concert offered a varied programme: Carreras opened with zarzuela, Canción Húngara, and delighted the audience with a selection of his best numbers, such as Passione or The Impossible Dream. Jaquelina Livieri, who shone on her own with her renditions of Je veux vivre, Canción de Paloma (video) or Je suis Titania, joined the legendary tenor in Satie's Je te veux and Dúo y Jota de la Africana (video). Among the encores, the press mentioned Chitarra Romana (video), Contigo aprendí (video) (from his latest recording 25 - Meraviglioso), and duet Solamente una vez (video).
